Reality TV Corner! : Sports Edition

Recently we have seen an increase in the amount of reality shows featuring sport stars and their significant others, and exes. Shows like The T.O. Show with Terrence Owens, Basketball Wives, Football Wives, Kendra with Kendra Wilkinson - Baskett and her Minnesota Vikings husband, and spouses of athletes have even snuck into the Real Housewives franchise in the Atlanta and now the Miami installments.

America's obsession with ballers and their lives has shown in the ratings. The T.O. Show and Basketball Wives have gotten VH1 huge ratings, Kendra got some of the biggest ratings for E! when she got married, and gave birth to her baby in two special episodes.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta have had a connection to football players as well: being the town of the Atlanta Falcons, "housewives" Kim Zolciak, singer of "Tardy for the Party", is now pregnant with boyfriend Kroy Biermann of the Falcons' baby; former castmate Liza Wu Hartwell spent two seasons on the show with her husband, former NFL Linebacker of the Falcons Ed Hartwell; and DeShawn Snow spent the only one season, the premiere season, of the show with her children and husband, former Cleveland Cavaliers player and NBA TV announcer Eric Snow. The Miami installment of the franchise  has former Chicago Bulls player Scottie Pippen's wife, Larsa Pippen and their family as one of the six "housewives."

Even the Kardashians are involved in this, which isn't a surprise. Kim Kardashian, known for her love of athletes, was most famously in a relationship with New Orleans Saints player Reggie Bush, dated Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver Miles Austin for a while and is now in a relationship with New Jersey Nets Forward Kris Humphries. Her sister,Khloe Kardashian Odom, even got into the athletic dating pool when she married LA Lakers Forward Lamar Odom in 2009, only a month after dating to the day of their wedding. The wedding special on their reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians gave E! record ratings, and Khloe and Lamar are taping their spin-off reality show, Khloe & Lamar, set to premiere in April.

Reality TV Corner!

This is my first of what will be called Reality TV Corner. Being that a lot of entertainment now is focused on Reality TV with such personalities starting their careers in it, like Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Kelly Osbourne, Jennifer Hudson and more, and since I LOVE Reality TV, why not talk about it?

This week, the new installment of the hit Bravo Real Housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of Miami, is slated to premiere. After having record ratings with the installments in Atlanta, which just ended it's season, and Beverly Hills, which also called it a wrap recently, producers at Bravo are at it again. This show was originally just supposed to be a special series about a group of women in Miami that are all very close, but the executives at Bravo decided to make it a part of the Real Housewives "umbrella". There was a sneak peek on the network Sunday night and from what I saw, it was just as gaudy and "real" as the other installments.

These are the women to be featured on the show, and they are not very diverse, there's only Cuban, White and Middle Eastern nationality between all of the women, but this is usually how the installments are (not a lot of variety in nationality throughout the women). And while this show is being pushed to the air very quickly, the other installments of the franchise, New York and Orange County, are being pushed back to premiere later this year. Orange County is where the series started, in March 2006. Another installment of the franchise that was very popular in the ratings was in New Jersey

GaGa Over the Grammys!!

The Grammys this Sunday seemed to be a lot about Lady GaGa. Not only did her 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper air, but during the hour timeslot before the Grammys began, she appeared (well, not really) in a giant egg carried by dancers, and when asked about the reason she was in an egg, her creative director/choreographer Laurieann Gibson told Ryan Seacrest that she was incubating for her performance later in the night of her new single, Born This Way. This seems to be her weekend, being that on Friday she released her new single to the World and in less than 24 hours it became #1 on iTunes in 23 countries. Her Grammy performance was no disappointment, showing her new look, tight dance moves, and even included a short organ interlude. Overshining everyone with her antics, she even walked away with 3 awards: Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Bad Romance" , Best Pop Vocal Album for "The Fame Monster" and Best Short Form Music Video for "Bad Romance".

UPDATE: This is the OFFICIAL YouTube of the Performance.

Another notable performance that I loved was the tribute to Aretha Franklin done by Yolanda Adams, Christina Aguilera, Martina McBride, Jennifer Hudson and Florence of Florence and the Machine. After singing "Natural Woman" together, Christina redeemed herself from her Super Bowl Star Spangled Banner fumble singing "Ain't No Way", and obviously shined as the star of the performance.

Other notable performances included Rihanna with Eminem, Dr.Dre and Skylar Grey in a performance of "Love the Way You Lie Pt. 2 / I Need a Doctor", Katy Perry singing "Not Like the Movies/ Teenage Dream" with a Valentine's Day theme and Cee-Lo Green and Gywneth Paltrow singing "Forget You" with the Muppets.

Introduction

This blog is about me and my interests that consist of a bunch of things, but what I really love is Reality TV, Pop Music (even though I like a lot of different types of music) and Award Shows and their fashion hits/faux pas

I also have a Twitter and Tumblr account that I will give the links to, and those will contribute to the fact that I'm interested in a lot.
